Ciliegiolo {chee-lee'eh-joh-loh} is an ancient Tuscan grape that some say is the father of Sangiovese and others say is the offspring of Sangiovese. Nevertheless they are related. It’s named after the Italian word for cherry because the grape has a bright red cherry flavor which is very true of this delicious red wine.  It’s bright, fresh and lean and lively in the mouth with hints of sage and violets.

Attractive fruit character with dried raspberries, mulberries and hints of kirsch, chocolate, oranges, spices and cedar. Medium- to full-bodied with fine but tense and lightly chewy tannins and racy acidity. Shows balance, good concentration and a textured, dusty aftertaste. Ciliegiolo. Already delicious, but better after 2026
