Domaine Economou is one of the most sought after producers of Greece for its artisanal wines. Yiannis Economu, the outstanding wine maker has an oenology degree from Milan. He had years of work in Germany, Bordeaux (Chateau Margaux) and Piedmont under the guidance of Nebbiolo maestros. He then returned to Crete, Greece in 1994 where Domaine Economou is now rooted.

Domaine Economou Assyrtiko PGI 2017 is a rare and captivating white wine from the high-altitude Ziros plateau in eastern Crete, made from ungrafted, organically farmed old vines. Crafted by Yiannis Economou with natural methods—spontaneous fermentation, extended aging in used oak, and no fining or filtration—it offers a golden hue and a complex bouquet of dried apricot, quince, citrus peel, beeswax, and herbs. The palate is powerful yet balanced, marked by saline minerality, vivid acidity, gentle tannins, and a long, textured finish. A contemplative, cellar-worthy expression of Assyrtiko, produced in very limited quantities.
