Dragonette Sauvignon Blanc Happy Canyon 2020 750ml

Dragonette Sauvignon Blanc Happy Canyon 2020 750ml

Happy Canyon is one of the youngest American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) in Santa Barbara County, situated in the east of the Santa Ynez Valley.  Vineyard plantings began here in the late 1990s, with the area producing its first vintage in 2001 and AVA status granted to Happy Canyon in 2009.

The AVA's vineyards consist of nutrient-poor and mineral-rich soils, varying from sandy and clay loams to cherts and serpentine cobbles. The Happy Canyon climate is warm – the warmest mesoclimate within the wider Santa Ynez Valley – but the vineyards are cooled by the ocean fog, which rolls inland off the Pacific Ocean in the morning, and burns off again in the afternoon sun when temperatures can reach around 90°F (32°C) in the summer months.

Peach blossom extract, dried mango and chamomile aromas meet with a touch of wet rock minerality on the nose of this appellation blend. A grippy, even leathery structure on the sip envelops the dried apple and guava flavors. This is a Sauvignon Blanc that will persist in the cellar.
