The drink is produced by macerating a range of herbs and spices in neutral grape spirit. Luxardo Fernet, for instance, contains licorice, cardamom, gentian and saffron while Fernet-Branca includes the likes of aloe, rhubarb, gentian, galingale, cinnamon, myrrh, iris, and chamomile.
