Trimbach Reserve Personnelle Pinot Gris Alsace 2017

Trimbach Reserve Personnelle Pinot Gris Alsace 2017

Pale gold with a rich and fragrant nose; apricot, ripe pear and mango with a touch of botrytis. Full-bodied with very ripe fruits on the palate. Very charming, meaty, rich with good acidity. Great with seafood and white meats. Perfectly pairs with fusion and Asian cuisines.

95 Wine Advocate

Assembled in the very best plots of the domaine and made only in great vintages, Trimbach's bright-colored 2017 Pinot Gris Réserve Personnelle opens with a clear, fresh and aromatic bouquet of fully ripe white fruit with hints of caramel. Mouth-filling and round on the palate, this is a complex and vivaciously mineral Pinot Gris with stimulating grip and tension on the long and powerful yet also elegant, persistently saline and lemony finish. This is a superb Pinot Gris that luckily did not ferment to fully dry but to remarkable balance. This is a great Alsace Pinot Gris to be served with lobster, poultry or white meats. Natural cork. Tasted in January 2023.

Evolving beautifully, showing a round, richly styled palate filled out with warm cinnamon, cardamon, peach and citrus notes. White tea tannins bring definition and form, while tangy acidity ties everything together. Offers an intriguing pine note on the well-rendered finish, which lingers. Drink now through 2027. 1,875 cases made, 350 cases imported.

91 Vinous

Good full yellow. Aromas and flavors of ripe citrus fruit, wet underbrush, sweet spices and earth tones. Enters oily and round, showing outstanding depth to the baked apple and cinnamon flavors. Finishes long, fresh and very clean, displaying delightful acid-fruit balance. A very pretty, vibrant wine. Always a considerable step up from the Pinot Gris Reserve (but then again, there are only 20,000 bottles of this wine made, compared to the 200,000 of the Reserve, so a cut-and-dried comparison is a little unfair). Made only with estate-grown grapes, including fruit from three sites in the Osterberg Grand Cru (which explains this wine's acidity).
